Hosting Chris Bang, our AFS exchange student from Denmark
“Hanging out” and waterskiing at Balboa’s Back Bay, Alamitos Bay, and Lake Arrowhead, eating burgers and fries at Bob’s Big Boy, attending sports events and dances, participating in yearbook staff and drill team - all fun times with great friends!
Highlights since 1962
Attended freshman year at Cal Berkeley, sophomore year in Denmark, graduated from USC
Married in 1965, moved to Hawaii, then Virginia where first daughter was born
Moved to San Diego (Paradise!) where son and second daughter were born; have lived in North County San Diego ever since
Spent 33 years raising children since my kids are15 years apart; much volunteering in those years - and since
Have had real estate license for 40 years
Hiked 100 mile West Highland Way in Scotland, parts of John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails in Sierras, and parts of the Swiss Alps, the latter with Linda Baker Carlson
Traveled to Bermuda, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, China and New Zealand and plan to go to Hong Kong at least annually, since one daughter and her family are there
Serve as deacon, among other things, at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, where I met and married my husband, Barry, 21 years ago
Serve as event-planner and fund-raiser for Plant With Purpose, a SD-based international environmental and community development organization
Traveled with PWP to Tanzania in 2006 where I planted trees and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest free-standing mountain in the world!
Thrilled to be “Amma” to 7 grandchildren, including 2 sets of twins!
Life is good and I’m very grateful for the experiences I had and the friends I made at SMHS and all through my San Marino years.
