High School Memories
Having to walk to school most days because my mom wouldn't drive me - ugh!
The reaction that Mr. Peterson had when most of the class flunked his biology test. He just went off that we would be going through life by our "little lonesome;” that we won't have Mom and Dad there to coddle us when we go for our job interview; that we are born alone and die alone and won't have our parents around to baby us. Therefore; we better wake up and take biology seriously! Every now and then I think of his lecture and how right he was!!
He was a great teacher and so was Mr. Bradford.
The fabulous Grad Night that our parents put on for us in the high school gym. That was a great night.
Mr. Armendariz being dressed fastidiously every day. He should have modeled clothes for magazines. Occasionally the boys setting off fires in the trash cans.
Life Since High School
My first marriage of 13 years ended up with no children and a divorce.
In 1980 I married my second husband, Bob Merrill. He was a bachelor (never married) living in Belmont Shores, Long Beach. We had our one and only child in 1983. I was 39 when Samantha was born. What was I thinking? We raised her in Irvine, Ca. and she graduated in 2006 from San Diego State with a degree in Business. She is a bright light in our lives.
With both of us being California natives we visited many of California's beautiful places many times. We had made several trips to the East Coast through the years and loved it. So, we thought it would be fun to retire back here and have a completely different adventure. In 2006 we moved to Hickory, North Carolina. We bought a home in a golf course and lake community. We're about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte and in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. My husband loves all the golf and fishing. We're about 7 hours from Washington, D. C. and about 5 hours from Savannah, Ga. and Charleston, S.C.
Because of job transfers for my nieces and their husbands, all my three sisters and also our daughter now live in Texas. Our home here in Hickory has been for sale for three years now and the market is just terrible because of the recent housing problems in the U.S. We hope to eventually move to the McKinney area of Texas.
Our daughter, Samantha is getting married in April at the Sandals Resort in Jamaica. There will be around 30 of us there for her beach wedding and week long vacation.
If any of you are ever back this way, we would love to have you over for a visit.
