High School Memories
Can't think of funny stories – but, oh, so many wonderful memories!
Here's what I've been up to since '62
Graduated from USC, went to work for IBM and moved around with IBM (we used to say IBM stands for "I've been moved" – LA, Hawaii, LA and Northern California.
Left IBM the day Nixon resigned in '74 to move to La Jolla and marry a widower, Tom Gibson, who had two daughters (Linda and Donna) in high school. I remain quite close to them. We then adopted 2 baby boys, Ryan and Andy. I went back to work in 1984, to help Tom who was having some problems. First I joined Scripps Memorial Hospitals Foundation for a few years and then moved to Mercy Hospital Foundation as executive vice president.
In 1993 my youngest son and I moved to central New Jersey where I joined Monmouth Healthcare Foundation as president and CEO, In 1998, I joined Meridian Health as president of the Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations (four foundations).
When I moved to NJ, I met my future husband Larry Roberts, who was introduced through a mutual friend. Larry Roberts worked for Merrill Lynch for 34 years and retired in 2000. We married in 1998 and I retired in 2006 - hoORAY!
Since then, we've travelled a lot, and have been to all seven continents.
My son, Ryan, lives here in NJ and is in between jobs. My son, Andy, is married with a one year-old living in Athens, GA, where he teaches pastry arts at Athens Tech College. Larry's son, Dan just finished the Appalachian Trail (a five month trek!) and and looks forward to getting back into the finance world. Larry's daughter Julie is married with three kids (6,8 and 10) and lives 10 minutes from us – so cool.
That's it in a nutshell - amazing how 50 years can fit in a little paragraph!
