Helping People Live Better Lives
Here is a bit of catch-up on myself: After undergraduate school at Whittier College I taught junior high and high school for several years as I put myself through graduate school at U.S. International University in San Diego for a Masters in psychology. In 1975 I started my private practice in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and counseling in Carlsbad and have been at it for about 37 years now in Encinitas.
I did marry and help my husband raise his two children for 12 years but am single now. I have no children of my own by choice. I knew I had work to do that would take all of my attention and love. As a part of my practice in 1984 I began conducting a personal growth workshop called The Renaissance Experience and just completed conducting my 91st one last month. It is a joy to support people on their journey toward a better life. My work and this workshop in particular has been an empowering thing for me as well.
I decided at the age of 47 to sing. I use a lot of music in my workshops (including music from our time together!) and wanted to have the music in me. So I took singing lessons and got good at it. I was consequently asked to perform in the Ms. Senior California pageant (pretty much out of character for me) and actually won Ms. Senior West Los Angeles and runner up for Ms. Senior California. That was kind of fun but I don't like the feeling of competition. I'd much rather connect in a more loving way.
Over the years I have had other projects related to my work. For example, I have written hundreds of articles, a screenplay, about seven stage plays (all of which have been performed), a book, The True Seeker's Guide To A Better Life, made numerous movie shorts and a movie personal growth workshop named, The Call To Adventure. I wrote and recorded a CD of 14 songs for that project which can be heard on my website, www.wendyhill.com.
All in all I have found great pleasure and satisfaction in giving to others. I am thankful for the opportunity to do so and for continued good health. I'm still in private practice. I have met so many wonderful people through my work. It's a rich life and it's made me humble and appreciative of the human experience. As I write this for you I am intermittently throwing ball for my two year old Australian Labradoodle, Willie. Once I sit at the computer it's a non-negotiable game. I have traveled some...Europe, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, and our USA. But I love home the most. I live on three treed acres where I love the quiet and energy of nature. My family is spread around the country and I enjoy having them and their children as a part of my life. My father is still living at 95.
