Favorite High School Memories
San Marino was a wonderful town for me to live in since 1950! Valentine, Huntington and then SMHS. I feel I have been truly blessed with my upbringing in such a wonderful city and especially by my longtime and lasting friendships with so many friends from SMHS.
After Graduation
Graduated from USC with a BA in Business and an MS in Education. Married in 1966 and then taught Business Education at Rosemead High School until Gregory William Ames was born in 1973. Then Geoffrey Warner Ames was born in 1975 and I never returned to teaching after having the boys. Instead, I became a "professional" volunteer in many organizations. When the boys entered Valentine, I took up golf with a passion. Became a "volunteer" at Annandale Golf Club and also served as a director for the Women's Southern California Golf Association.
In 1992, I married John B. Bertero, Jr who also belonged to Annandale and we actually live on the 18th tee!! inherited an extended family, as John has four children and seven grandchildren of his own. Both Gregg and Geoff are married to wonderful ladies (my daughters!) and together they have five fantastic children ranging from an 8-year-old, three 6-year-olds and one almost four. It is very difficult to get enough of all of them as they live in Lafayette, CA and Bar Harbor, ME. John and I enjoy visiting both locations and we truly enjoy cruising. We have been to the Baltic, South America, through the Panama, from Italy to Spain and the latest a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. We have plans soon to cruise Australia and New Zealand.
